Welcome to the City of Charles Town Department of Community Development. We believe it is an exciting time in the City of Charles Town, a community with an abundance of potential and opportunity. The Department of Community Development’s duty is to help maintain a high quality of life for Charles Town residents and businesses through sound land use planning, code enforcement, housing, economic development, and neighborhood services. The following pages are designed to inform you of the many ways the department can assist you, whether you are growing a business, developing land, providing human services, or repairing your home.
The department’s objective is to promote the orderly growth of the community through the development and enforcement of plans and regulations that promote health, safety and general welfare of its citizens. The department also provides staff support to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Landmarks Commission, Tree Board, and the Vacant Structures Board.
