Business and Occupation (B&O) Taxes

B&O TaxesBusiness and Occupation (B&O) taxes are due twice a year (January 31 and July 31), with these tax forms being provided at least 30 days prior to the period ending. B&O tax compliance is required for businesses to hold and renew a license in Charles Town. Businesses currently have two ways of filing and paying taxes: online or at City Hall via mail/in person.
City of Charles Town Web Payments PortalTo access the online portal, please visit https://charlestown.progressivecloud.net/webrenewals/. Businesses must provide their individual account number as well as their security code to log in to the filing platform (the account number and security code can be found on the B&O tax mailing or email notice). Once the user is logged in, the tax filing process auto-calculates the taxes due depending on the gross sales/service type, and can also auto-calculate penalty and interest amounts on past due tax periods. Any amounts owed can be paid with credit card or E-Check. Additionally, businesses can file “zero” returns if no income was generated in Charles Town during the tax period.
Filing through Charles Town City HallTo file a business’s B&O taxes through City Hall, please complete the tax return provided for the associated period and mail to the address below with your payment:

City of Charles Town (ATTN: Finance Department),
PO Box 14,
Charles Town, WV 25414.

Businesses may also file and pay their taxes in person by visiting the City Hall address below:

Charles Town City Hall
101 East Washington Street,
