Tree Board

The Tree Board assists City Council with all matters related to the planting, care, protection, and maintenance of trees in the public right-of-way, including street trees, parks, and other city-owned properties. The Tree Board meets on the first Thursday of each month. We invite the community to be a part of our work and assist us with tree related projects.

Trees for Urban Landscapes is a publication of the West Virginia Division of Forestry providing information on tree species and characteristics, tips for planting and maintaining suitable trees, and identifying unsuitable trees for urban environments.

The Right Tree in the Right Place is a resource of the Arbor Day Foundation identifying the proper landscaping considerations included in the careful planning for a healthy community forest. This site includes a quiz to assist with learning how the characteristics of trees influence how and where they should be planted.

TreesAreGood.org is an educational website providing homeowners and other tree owners with reliable information regarding the benefits of trees and how to properly care for trees in an urban environment.

TLC for Trees provides tutorial articles and video vignettes intended to help ensure good structure and strength and continued best health and highest value of landscape trees.
